A very lightweight device to use
My fellow official and I purchased two sticks. One replaced my homemade aluminum stick and other replaced his heavier measuring stick Gill had been previously offering. We have used these sticks with our previously purchased laser devices in both the high jump and pole vaults. In our opinion, this stick was easy use and carry around to various collegiate and USATF meets we work in our area. In the high jump, it is a toss up between a calibrated bar and a laser stick. However in the pole vault, in the hands of a competent official this stick is far easier to use for accurate measurements that coaches appreciate being properly done for there athletes. However, in the pole vault.. and this applies to *any* measuring device manufactured where positioning in the box, it is hard to get the stick base underneath the collar and shoved back far enough to be off the collar lip as called out for a proper measurement. It can be done with some effort, but in our opinion, the box collar is a detriment to proper vertical measuring. The collar designers failed with this regard. Good products have a tough time.
