Creating the Continuum Family

The story of our Continuum C5 hurdle actually started before the C4 came out. It’s been a long dream at Gill Athletics to have a step button hurdle. At the time we first took on the challenge, making it durable kept it from becoming a reality. Our team chose to focus its efforts on the C4 instead, which in turn paved the way for the C5.

Last year, after many years of success with the C4, we decided to revisit the step button idea. Durability was less of a challenge this time though cause our team had learned so much with the C4. Each hurdle design goes through intensive impact tests. We must make sure every slight change we make to the hurdle will stand up to whatever it might go through on and off the track. We also learned a few things from a certain product most everyone owns to help with the actual mechanics of the Quick-Step foot pedal.

Of course the C5 is part of the Continuum family so it also offers the same auto weight patent as the C4. The automatic hurdles offer smooth continuous transitions between heights thanks to the internal leg weight mechanism. We didn’t stop with the C5 either. Early on in our conversations we decided that we should also have an option with the same automatic hurdle benefits but more budget friendly. Thus, the C3 was added to our projects list.

The Continuum projects are a great example of how our team can take things they’ve already learned and apply them to current projects. This time it was to expand on an already popular product to offer more options. Only time will tell what the next big project will be.
