A few weeks ago, I told you how the VIBE discus was comparable to my cousin getting her first car, as opposed to me getting my upgraded car with all the bells and whistles. So, I’m sure ever since you’ve been wondering what are OUR bells and whistles? What makes our top-of-the-line discus the one you want.

To put it simply, Gill’s OTE Carbon Discus has lighter and more durable carbon plates. When our R&D team set out to create a new discus, they knew that durability was a key issue. Plates crack, causing changes in the aerodynamics of the discus during flights. Throwers might even have to alter their grip to avoid being cut. Enough wear and tear would eventually lead to the discus becoming illegal for competition. The process would then have to start all over again.

So how did our team fix this problem? Well, they decided to fuse our carbon plates with an aluminum mesh. The carbon is durable and lightweight, but the aluminum helps to make it more crack-resistant while adding minimal weight. The honeycomb pattern is also the strongest pattern in nature which helps to add to the overall durability. And because of the heating process, the plate is smooth to the touch, per the rules.
